Ellefson

When the Deadbolt Breaks

In 2025 verscheen het tiende album, In the Glow of the Vatican Fire, via het Italiaanse Argonauta Records.

When the Deadbolt Breaks

When the Deadbolt Breaks creates a distinctive form of doom metal that fuses psychedelic elements with an oppressive atmosphere. Their sprawling compositions oscillate between dissonance and harmony, chaos and structure, featuring heavy, decaying soundscapes pierced by moments of intense musical fury. Unexpected shifts in mood, perspective, and tempo lend the music an unpredictable quality. Some passages build into extended, repetitive sequences, while others abruptly grind to a halt and disintegrate. The band has released seven albums, performed at SXSW and the New England Stoner & Doom Fest, and toured across the US East and West Coasts as well as Canada. Their tenth album, In the Glow of the Vatican Fire, was released in 2025 via the Italian label Argonauta Records; the record garnered critical acclaim and sparked new tours.

Grindpad

For nearly two decades, Grindpad has stood firm for one thing: metal. The Dutch thrash metal band pays no heed to fleeting trends, opting instead for metal the way they believe it was meant to be: aggressive, ferocious, and above all fun. Their sound is driven by Bay Area-inspired thrash, while their live performances have earned them the reputation of “Kings of Dutch Thrash Metal.” Their distinctive identity is further defined by Ed Repka’s signature artwork and the high-energy “Shark Crew” show, featuring staples like beer, inflatable sharks, and a massive mosh pit. Their 2017 EP Sharkbite! was hailed as “the number 1 underground Thrash album of the last decade.” Following the acclaimed 2020 album Violence, they released the EP Finger Collector Crew in 2023, which also garnered rave reviews.
